Creative Classrooms

Blue Star Contemporary’s Creative Classrooms brings contemporary art to the classroom! Each school year a San Antonio-based artist is selected as our Artist-in-Community and takes on the task of translating his or her studio practice to hands-on art activities. These activities encourage creative, critical, and exploratory thinking while introducing students to contemporary art.

Bowden Elementary in SAISD is the current host to BSC’s Creative Classrooms program. For 9 weeks our Artist-in-Community, Emily Fleisher, works with second-grade students once a week to create TEKS specific art projects. The program culminates with a celebration of their work.

Blue Star Contemporary provides all necessary materials, and our program is provided free of charge.
